Sean Yates | Director & Principal Physiotherapist

Sean graduated his bachelor of Sports science in 1999 and Completed his Doctor of Physiotherapy in 2011. Sean’s passion is science especially biomechanics (the body’s ability to be able to move).

Sean believes in science, and because we live in a mechanical world that is governed by the laws of physics that mechanical problems have mechanical answers.

He also believes that eliminating the problem does not fix it it only makes it worse (e.g. stop running, bending, throwing).
Sean has a love for mentoring new graduate and experienced physios to be the best they can be.

Sean has written many articles to help new graduate physiotherapists entering the work force they can be found here
He also runs New Grad 101, a course designed to prepare new graduate physios to enter the private practice world. To read more about this click here.

Sean’s journey into the health and fitness industry began as an aspiring elite sportsperson in multiple sports but primarily focused on volleyball, both indoor and beach (representing Australia multiple times) and Basketball (playing at a state level). As it was apparent he could not succeed in those areas primarily due to injuries he looked at how he could not only prevent further injury to himself and play with his kids but also help others to do the same.

Sean has a young family, Danielle (wife), Thea, Auri and Ember (daughters), Kiba (his Japanese Spitz), Pax (his Boxer).

Sean loves to increase function and performance in all functional areas and help to eliminate injuries or at very least prevent injuries from getting worse. He does this by combining his manual therapy skills with his ability to teach you to care for your own body while correcting any structural or biomechanical problems with your standing, walking, running, throwing and any other functional exercise.

Sean take on exercise is that going through the motions is worse than not doing the exercise at all.
