Non motorized treadmills
  • On a non motised treadmill, the action of your feet against the deck moves the belt. The belt only moves if you move it. Both runners and walkers expend more effort on a curved belt non-motorized treadmill than on a motorized treadmill. This has fitness benefits, as users can get their heart rates into a higher zone at a lower speed.
  • One study found that subjects expended 30% more energy on a manual treadmill at the same speed

Fly wheel trainers
  • flywheels provide a specific stimulus that challenges the neuromuscular system differently, and those differences have shown up in other research studies that include performance testing.
  • functional trainers and cable machines
    • Cable machines provide constant tension while you lift and lower the weight
    • Your movements are not constrained by a machine.  Typically, your legs are trained from a standing position, therefore mimicking actions allows our physios to modify your exercises to make the functional to your goals
. and yes of course there will be weights and bars there as well.
Pilates reformers –
  • Which allow you to move through full range while working on strengthening muscles.
  • This dynamic form of exercise, cleverly uses the machine's springs and levers to create resistance and allow for equal focus on the concentric and eccentric contractions

Weights, Kettlebells and dumbells
  • All our physios are trained in traditional lifting as well
  • we use a combination of Kettlebells, dumbells, weights to help acheive your goals.
Group exercise and rehabilitation classes are back!

For all of our clients that have been asking about group exercise and rehabilitation classes they are back - And yes they are health fund rebateable.

For those of you who have been enquiring and want to start supervised exercise or rehabilitation with a physiotherapist our classes will be starting again next week.

The federal government announced the staged easing of restrictions last Friday, outlining that each state and territory will adopt these at different rates.

These guidelines relate to physiotherapy classes/group consultations.

When running physiotherapy exercise or rehabilitation classes we will be aligning with government advice and we will be making sure that all relevant infection control principles are applied.
Picture
At our clinics we will be applying the following limits to all our group classes with a social distancing of 4 square metres per person enforced:

PLUS we will have physical distancing of equipment/mats so patients are kept more than 2 m apart.
Picture
  • We will be staggering class times.
  • This will minimise cross over of patients exiting/entering group exercise spaces and the waiting room.
  • We have also set up an undercover outside waiting room where you are able to wait and if you choose you can wait in your car until the class runs.
  • We will be allowing adequate time for a class to be conducted safely with respect to cleaning of equipment after every single client use.
This may mean that your classes will be a little longer than usual to accommodate this.
  • When dealing with vulnerable populations We will also use our professional judgement to make a decision about the appropriateness of offering face-to-face sessions instead of groups/classes and may recommend an online format if it is warranted.

Picture
Our exercise classes are not the same as a gym session - Every participant has an individualised exercise programme.

The classes are small (maximum of five people) - you will receive constant feedback from a one of our exercise trained physiotherapist,
  • This high level of individualization and feedback allow you to focus on what you really want to work on in an environment where everyone has the same goal.

Our exercise and rehabilitation areas have all the equipment required to help everyone, from those recovering from surgery, to those wanting to improve their running function, and everyone in between.

Our classes are not designed for people who just want to look good in the mirror or for people who go to the gym just to meet people (although these may be happy side-effects!) - Our exercise classes are designed for people who want to train sustainably, exercise safely, move more biomechanically sound, prevent injuries, and of course decrease their pain.

Picture
We totally understand that some people prefer 1 on one training so if group classes are not your thing we will still be offering our 1 on 1 Exercise rehabilitation sessions with our exercise trained physios at a discounted rate (and yes they are private health fund rebateable as well).

Classes are now open for booking, click here to view our timetable.

Give us a call so we can help you get started on your individualised exercise or rehabilitation journey.
